USEON Secures Consecutive U.S. Invention Patents, Driving Original Innovation

Recently, USEON has been granted two U.S. patents for its independently developed technologies:

  • “Preparation Method for a Flame-Retardant Polystyrene” (Patent No. US 11,760,868 B2)
  • “Biodegradable Polymer Expanded Bead Capable Of Being Formed By Steam Compression Molding” (Patent No. US 20250034346)

These approvals mark a significant milestone in USEON’s research and development of functional polymer materials and environmentally friendly materials.

Structural Optimization for Flame Retardancy

In conventional polystyrene (PS) materials, small-molecule flame retardants often suffer from poor dispersion, leading to unstable flame-retardant performance and potential toxic emissions. To address this, the R&D team at USEON has developed an innovative approach for preparing flame-retardant PS.

This method significantly enhances the dispersibility and compatibility of flame retardants. More importantly, by chemically bonding the flame retardant to the polymer backbone, it improves the stability of brominated compounds and effectively reduces the release of free bromine species. As a result, the overall flame-retardant rating and environmental safety of the material are greatly improved. Experimental results show that the resulting material achieves an oxygen index as high as 35% and meets the UL-94 V-0 rating, while maintaining excellent mechanical properties.

Optimizing Parameters to Enhance Practicality

Another authorized invention focuses on improving the molding efficiency and structural stability of biodegradable foamed materials during actual processing.

USEON has effectively overcome common technical challenges in PLA foaming applications—such as insufficient melt strength and non-uniform foam structure—through the coordinated development of PLA foaming formulations, process pathways, and continuous extrusion foaming equipment.

PLA Pellets

This technology provides a mature and reliable solution for replacing traditional non-degradable foams with biodegradable materials, offering strong potential for industrial-scale application.

Technical Accumulation for a Sustainable Future

USEON has been committed to the collaborative development of polymer extrusion equipment and material application technologies for many years. While pursuing efficient production, the company continues to explore sustainable material pathways. The recent approval of these two U.S. patents is not only a recognition of the continuous efforts and technological direction of the R&D team, but also lays a solid foundation for the company’s future product development in high-performance modified plastics, biodegradable materials, flame-retardant foamed materials, and other areas.

In the future, USEON will continue to increase investment in technological research and development, driving more independent innovations to industrialize and meet the sustainable development needs of global customers.
